Catholic Monks, Kenya Harlequin, Kabras RFC, and Strathmore Leos have advanced to the Christie 7s Cup semifinals after winning their respective quarterfinal matches at RFUEA Ground on Sunday morning.
The Monks secured a 33-12 victory over Nondies, setting up a semifinal clash against hosts Kenya Harlequin. In the second semifinal, 2016 and 2017 champions Kabras RFC will face Strathmore Leos, who are aiming for their third consecutive Christie 7s final appearance.

Despite maintaining a 100% win record on day one, Nondies fell behind when Samuel Omollo scored the opening try, which he converted for a 7-0 lead. Felix Okumu then extended the lead to 14-0 with another converted try.

Nondies’ Charles Odhiambo narrowed the gap with a converted try just before halftime. They gained momentum and scored again through Ronnie Omondi after a penalty, making it 14-12 at the break.
In the second half, despite being a man down, the Monks managed to score through Victor Omupere, who extended their lead to 19-12. Kelvin Mburu then set up Hassan Wambani for a corner try, stretching the lead further. Omupere sealed the victory with a final try, securing a big win for the Monks.
Kenya Harlequin advanced to the semis with a 12-0 win over Menengai Oilers. Albert Alela opened the scoring for Quins, giving them a 7-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Leonard Fogang’s quick reaction resulted in another try, securing the win for Harlequin.
Kabras RFC, with a relatively young squad, defeated KCB 12-5 to earn a semifinal spot. Biden Hayo’s early try and Eric Cantona’s conversion gave Kabras a 7-0 lead.
KCB’s Emmanuel Opondo responded with a try, but Levy Amunga missed the conversion, leaving the score at 7-5 at halftime.
Kabras extended their lead with a try from Victor Otieno and held on to their seven-point lead to win the match.
Defending champions Strathmore Leos edged MMUST RFC 12-10 to reach the cup semis. MMUST started strongly with Veron Kaburu’s quick try, but Strathmore’s skipper Shem Okola tied the scores.
Josephat Omulefu’s try gave MMUST a 10-5 lead at halftime. In the second half, Strathmore was awarded a penalty try, which secured their 12-10 victory and a place in the semis.
Kisumu RFC, Mwamba, UoE Trojans, and Impala lost their challenge trophy matches,. eliminating them from the top division. However, they can still be invited to the Kakamega Ingo 7s next weekend
