Uganda Cranes 15s to camp in Gauteng ahead of Rugby Africa Cup

The Uganda Cranes 15s squad is set to camp in Gauteng, South Africa, for their final preparations for the 2024 Rugby Africa Cup.

The Uganda Rugby Union announced that the team will spend ten days in Gauteng, with the players scheduled to depart the country on Wednesday.

A squad of 29 players, along with six officials, will be flagged off at the National Council of Sports offices on Wednesday morning.

These players will join seven teammates who have been training with the Blue Bulls for the past three months as part of a high-performance program.

“Rugby Cranes 15s are set for a ten-day camp in Gauteng, South Africa, ahead of the Africa Cup, which will be hosted in Kampala. The 29-man squad and six officials will be flagged off at the National Council of Sports offices tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 am. These will join the seven players who have been at Blue Bulls for three months,” announced the Uganda Rugby Union.

he tournament will kick off on Saturday, July 20, 2024. In the first quarterfinal, Namibia will face Burkina Faso, followed by Kenya Simbas taking on Senegal in the second quarterfinal.

Uganda Cranes vs Zim

Algeria will play against the Ivory Coast, while the Zimbabwe Sables are paired with Uganda in the Cup quarterfinals.

The winner of the Kenya Simbas vs. Senegal match will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the Algeria vs. Ivory Coast quarterfinal on Wednesday, July 24.

Similarly, the winner of the Namibia vs. Burkina Faso match will meet the winner of the Zimbabwe vs. Uganda quarterfinal.

The final day of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday, July 28, at the same venue.
