Kabras RFC have been confirmed as the host for the second leg of the National 7s Circuit, known as KRU 7s.
The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced that the KRU 7s will take place at the Kakamega Showground on the 3rd and 4th of August, marking the third time the 7s Circuit will grace Kakamega since 2019.
National 7s Circuit returning
“The KRU 7s, serving as the second round of the 2024 Sportpesa National 7s Circuit, will be hosted by Kabras Sugar at the Kakamega Showground on 3rd and 4th August,” declared the KRU.
With Kakamega 7s hosted by Western Bulls in 2019 and 2022 and four of the last five Kenya Cup finals being hosted in Kakamega, the town has become a familiar venue for rugby enthusiasts.
Following bids for the event in 2023, Eldoret RFC and Moi Arsonists emerged as winners. However, after hosting the Tisap 7s, they faced criticism over various issues, leading to the replacement of Tisap with KRU 7s.
The National 7s Circuit will commence in Nairobi with Kenya Harlequin hosting the Christie 7s on 27th and 28th July. Subsequently, the KRU 7s in Kakamega will keep the momentum going on 3rd and 4th August before a brief hiatus.
