National Champions Butula Boys once again demonstrated their championship pedigree as they successfully defended their Western Region School’s 15s title and secured qualification for the Nationals with a hard-fought 10-3 victory over Koyonzo in the final in Chavakali.
In a thrilling encounter, Butula seized the initiative early on, scoring a try in the opening minutes of the game to take a 5-0 lead. Their dominance continued as they added another try just before halftime, extending their advantage to 10-0.
Despite Koyonzo Boys’ determined efforts to tighten their defence in the second half, Butula managed to maintain their lead.
However, Koyonzo Boys capitalized on a penalty awarded to them, converting a three-point kick to narrow the gap to 10-3.

Nevertheless, Butula held firm in the closing moments of the game, securing a crucial victory and reaffirming their status as the top team in the region.
With this win, Butula earns the opportunity to compete in the National championship alongside Kisii School and Mang’u High, where they will aim to defend their title against tough competition.
