Uganda clinched the Gold Medal in the All-African Games after emerging victorious with a 21-14 against Kenya Morans in the final game of the campaign, held at the Ghana University Grounds.
Heading into the match with an impeccable record of winning all five of their opening matches, Uganda were already guaranteed a Gold Medal regardless of the outcome of the clash. Meanwhile, Kenya had faced setbacks, losing their first two matches and falling short of contention for the Gold bracket and settled for the Bronze.
Kenya’s determination to claim the bragging rights saw them strike first, with Denis Abukuse breaking through the defence to score a converted try and give Kenya an early lead.
Uganda swiftly responded with a centre-post try, levelling the scores at 7-7. Philip Wokorach then showcased his exceptional footwork, accelerating to score a try and propel Uganda into a 14-7 lead.

In the second half, Wokorach continued his stellar performance, scoring another try under the posts to extend Uganda’s lead to 21-7.
Although Kenya managed a late try under the posts, it was not enough to turn the tide in their favour, leaving the side coached by Louis Kisia with a defeat.
With an impressive total of 18 points in the round-robin tournament, Uganda emerged as the undisputed champions after securing victories in all their matches.
In contrast, Kenya’s campaign concluded with only nine points, having suffered three defeats along the way.
