Kenya 7s finished third in the Challenger Series second event held at Estadio Charrúa, Montevideo, Uruguay after a 31-12 win over Chile in the final.
With the win, Shujaa have bagged 16 points from the tournament and will move to 36 points after the two rounds.

Shujaa had lost to Hong Kong in the semis after a 21-14 defeat while Chile had lost to host Uruguay 10-5 missing a chance to feature in the final. It was a drop for the two having featured in the Dubai 7s final
The two sides had faced off in the Challenger Series opener in Dubai with Shujaa defeating Chile 12-5 in the final at the Sevens Stadium. Patrick Odongo’s crucial two tries played a significant role in Kenya 7s’ success as he ended up with 11 tries.
In this weekend’s encounter, Kenya 7s led through winger Lamec Ambetsa who went over for a try before Chile struck back a minute later with Ernesto Tchimino leveling the scores at 5-5.

Interchange in play saw Samuel Asati set up captain Vincent Onyala for a try that was converted for a 12-5 lead. Co-captain Tony Omondi forced his way through for a try that was converted for a 19-5 lead.
In the second half, John Okoth raced clear for a try that put Kenya 7s 24-5 lead. Benson Salem Adoyo came off the bench to score a try after a pass for Elvis Olukusi. He converted for a 31-5 lead.
Luca Strabucchi bagged a late try and converted but the game was way beyond Chile.
