Western Bulls whip Mombasa RFC in Kakamega

Western Bulls handed Mombasa RFC a 34-16 defeat to record their third win of the season in a KRU Championship match played at the Kakamega showgrounds.

Kevin Chege had early on put the visitors infront with a penalty goal but then it was Allan Kasiti’s show in the next couple of minutes as the veteran half-back scored a penalty followed with a try which he converted to take the scores to 10-3 in Bulls favour.

Kevin Chege pulled one back for Mombasa RFC after he landed a drop goal for a 10-6 score just before halftime. After the break, Dan kibet of Western Bulls scored a try which he converted to extend their lead to 17-6 but minutes later Kevin Magembe scored a penalty for Mombasa to cut the deficit to 17-9.

Brian Mwanika would land two tries for Bulls in quick succession but were unconverted to give his side a 27-9 lead. Bretty Kamadi scored another try for Western Bulls which was converted by Allan Kasiti to put the game far from Mombasa’s reach.

With the game coming close to an end, Mombasa RFC would get a consolation try through Temison Njagi with Joseph Musyoka adding the extras to take the scores to 34-16.
