Kenya Harlequin defeated Strathmore Leos 8-6 to pick their fourth consecutive win in a game played at the soggy Strathmore University grounds.

The game looked scrappy owing to the heavy rains that had pounded the city but at the same time evenly poised in the first few minutes.

Kenya Harlequins looked to have settled in early as they begun to get their play going. A brilliant backline move by Harlequins off the scrum found Charles Kinyanjui in space and he rushed to score in the corner for a 5-0 lead. Ervin Asena failed to convert.

Strathmore Leos fought back and they nearly got on board when Leos forward was tackled without the ball as he was about to ground the ball with the try line begging.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

In the second half, it was a battle of the boots between the two playmakers from both sides. Strathmore were first to get on board when their fly-half scored a penalty goal for a 5-3 score. Cornelius Mokoro on the other hand responded with a penalty goal for Kenya Harlequins moments later for a 8-3 score.

Strathmore Leos responded with another penalty goal and this time round from 40m out for a 8-6 score as the game approached the last 10 minutes.

Kenya Harlequin would hold on to survive Leos late resurgence to secure a slim 8-6 win.
