Kabras RFC Playmaker Jone Kubu has been handed an 11-week ban ahead of the National 7s Circuit final legs.
The ban is after he was captured stamping on a Strathmore Leos player who clenched on his foot even after he released the ball. The match saw Kabras lose 7-5 to Strathmore Leos on August 13, 2023, in the Christie 7s Cup semifinal.
11 matches
This kind of suspension means Kubu can’t play in the next 11 matches, and it started after the Christie 7s third-place playoff.
He started serving the ban in the match between Kabras Sugar and Nakuru.
“Jone Kubu (Kabras Sugar) has been suspended for 11 weeks after being cited for stamping during the Christie 7s cup semifinal against the Strathmore Leos on Sunday 13 August 2023,” reads a statement by KRU.
“The 11-week suspension when applied in sevens rugby translates to 11 matches and took effect from the Christie 7s third-place playoff,” he stated.
Jone Kubu’s card
Kubu had also gotten two yellow cards in Prinsloo and he missed two matches in Christie 7s.
Despite this trouble, there’s still a chance for Kubu to make things right. He can come back to play in the Kabeberi 7s final two matches.
