The Kenya U18 7s team finished fourth in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago after a 22-10 loss to Fiji for the Bronze medal.
In the match against Fiji, Arieta Tonono and Ravaela Bulileka’s tries ensured that the Islanders took a 10-5. Ann Namunya had scored a five-pointer for Kenya. In the second half, Fiji added 12 points while Lionesses got one unconverted try from Brendah Ogembo.
Before the bronze match, Kenya Under 18 lost to Canada 17-0 and Australia who later emerged Champions 45-0.
The Young Lionesses kicked off the campaign with a 45-5 loss to Fiji with Linda Kagwiria scoring the consolation try for Kenya.
In the second match, Kenya rose to beat Wales 20-12. Laura Otieno, Linda Kagwiria, Ann Namunyak and Mitchelle Alivitsia were on the scoresheet in the win.
Kenya’s biggest win came in the third match where they thrashed Trinard Tobgo 48-0. Ann Namunyak bagged a hat trick for Kenya while Margaret Wangui bagged a brace, Janet Oyare and Sharon Mukangula also scored in the encounter.
