KSSSA confirms no. of rugby schools to represent Kenya in East African games

The Kenya Secondary School Sports Association-KSSSA has confirmed that six teams will represent Kenya in the upcoming FEASSSA rugby games se for Rwanda.

Three teams will represent the country in the longer version rugby 15s with three also set to represent the country in the shorter version.

This means first time champions Butula Boys High School will return to East African games for the second time in row this year as Kenyan 15s Champions.

It will be their maiden appearance in 15s East African Games having featured in 7s for the first in 2022.

The Eastern Region Champions All Saints Boys High School Embu head to East African Games as Kenyas first runners-up having finished second in term one rugby 15s to book maiden ticket to East African games.

St. Anthony’s Kitale, are also East Africa bound after finishing third in the competition.

KSSSA 7s

The sevens rugby teams are yet to be confirmed as they are set for a clsh in the nationals at the Kakamega school from the 5th -14th of August 2023 with each region producing two teams to compete in the tournament while host region has four teams.

Champions Koyonzo High School will once again battle in the nationals to qualify for East Africa games for the second time in a row. They are joined by Vihiga High School both, Bungoma and Kimobo.

Menengai High School and Bwake Boys High School will represent the Rift Valley region as Upper Hill high school and Lenana School represent Nairobi.

Nyanza Region Giants Saint Mary’s School Yala have also qualified alongside Maseno School.

The Coastal Region will be represented by the Garashi High School and the Shimba hills school as Alliance High School and Kiambu School represent Central.

The Eastern Region will have Kitondo and Kangaru Schools. The top three teams will represent Kenya in East African games.
