Menengai High win Rift Valley Region Rugby 7s

Menengai High School are the 2023 Rift Valley Region Rugby 7s Champions after a 10-7 narrow win against Friends School Bwake in Nanyuki, Nyahururu County.

Menengai who have not lost a single game from the zonal level have remained unbeaten have qualified as position one for the National games scheduled dor Kakamega.

Menengai team managed to win all their pool B games to secure the pool lead with a 12-0 against Kipsombe before finalising the pool games with a 24-0 win against the Ndururi Secondary School from Laikipia.

Friends School Bwake were the winner in pool D after humbling all its counterparts 15-5 against Kabartegan High School from Kericho and 50-0 in an easy play against the Narok-based school the Nkoitoi Secondary School.

Menengai Boys played the Kabartegan Secondary School from Kericho to secure a 25-14 win and qualification to the Semi finals while Bwake played the Uasin Gishu County champions Kipsombe and qualified for the Semi finals with a 12-0 win.

Menengai High in semis

In the semis, Menengai had a 41-5 win at the end of the game while the Friends School Bwake played the Elgeiyo Marakwet side St. Patrick’s Iten to pocket a 21-7 win and direct ticket to the finals.

St. Patrick’s Iten played Ortum Boys High School to secure the third position in the region after a narrow 17-12 win in a very competitive match.

Menengai Boys and Bwake have thus qualified for the National Games scheduled to kick off from the 5th – 14th of August 2023 at Kakamega School.
