Mwamba RFC winger, Idriss Shariff, underwent successful surgery on Sunday to repair his damaged Achilles tendon.
The injury occurred during a training session with the club’s sevens team, leaving Shariff in need of immediate medical attention. The club wished the speedster a quick recovery through a statement.

“Our winger Idriss Shariff on Sunday underwent a successful surgery to repair his damaged Achilles after he got injured during a training session with the Sevens team. Please join us in wishing Idriss a speedy recovery. #Rfamily,” the club announced.
His surgery comes days less than two weeks to the National Sevens Circuit and his absence will be a blow for the side.
The side is currently preparing for the 7s campaign which is slated to begin in on 30-1 July 2023 with Dala 7s. The club will be keen to rise from last season where they managed 73 points and finished fifth on the log.
It was a drop from 2019 where they finished second and managed to scoop some trophies.
