Kisumu RFC and Kisumu Dolphins also picked their wins in the opening round of matches played on Saturday.

Kisii 7s First match

Two unconverted tries were enough for Kisumu’s second string side Dolphins to pick the first win of the tournament. Though Kisii took a 7-5 lead to the break, Kisumu managed to breach their defence line for another unconverted try in the second half which saw them win 10-7.

Kibabii whipped Rongo 52-0 to start the campaign on a high note. They ran four tries and converted one for a 22-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, they added 30 more points for a big win.

Rugby on the Road with the biggest win

Rugby on the Road picked a convincing 62-0 win over Kisii University in their opener. They were joined on the winning ways by Kisumu RFC who defeated Nairobi Boys 12-5. Aggrey Kitoi opened the scoring for Kisumu RFC before his try was cancelled for a 5-5 tie.

Nairobi Boys were reduced to six following a yellow card and the brave hearts capitalized on the one man advantage to score a converted try that made the difference.
