Fiji 7s head coach Ben Gollings has named a 13-member traveling squad for the upcoming Toulouse and London rugby sevens tournaments.
One of the major inclusions in the squad is Filipe Sauturaga, who had been out of action since January due to an injury he sustained during the Hamilton 7s. The utility back’s return will surely to provide a significant boost to the team.
Paula Nayacakalou, another player who has been included in the squad, replaces Tevita Daugunu, who suffered a knee injury during the Singapore leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series.
Jerry Tuwai, a seasoned campaigner, has also made it to the squad, and his presence is likely to motivate the team to perform well in France and England.
However, some notable omissions from the squad include Pilipo Bukayaro and Napolioni Bolaca.
Coach Ben Gollings said “The competition level within the group has been high and the best players were selected for this leg, which is a very important one before the season wraps up in London.
“It has been a good and competitive training week and we have worked on a lot of areas that needed a bit of tweaking,” said Gollings.
He added that Sauturaga brings a different dynamic to the team.
“He has been a fantastic player, strong in defense and a bit of x-factor in attack so to have him back is really good.
