The quarter-final pairings for the 2023 U20 Barthes Trophy have been revealed, with eight teams set to compete for Africa’s top age-grade title over three match days.
In one of the most highly anticipated matchups, Kenya and Uganda will face off again after meeting at the same stage in last year’s tournament, with Kenya winning 54-20. The game is scheduled to start at 4.30 pm.
Defending champions Zimbabwe will defend their title against Cote d’Ivoire, who were promoted to the tournament after being relegated last year but regained their status with a 27-23 win over Senegal in a repechage game in January. The match is set to begin at 9 am.
Namibia, last year’s runners-up, will then take on Zambia at 11.30 am, followed by Madagascar’s Junior Makis facing Tunisia at 2 pm.
All quarter-final games will take place on Saturday, April 22, with the semi-finals set for Wednesday, April 26. The final and 3rd place playoff will be held on Sunday, April 30.
