Kenya 7s suffered the second consecutive loss in Singapore 7s going down 21-19 to USA in a pool C match played on Saturday.
In a crucial match for Kenya’s hopes of making it to the quarters of the Singapore 7s tournament, Shujaa faced a tough challenge against a strong USA side coached by former coach Mike Friday. Shujaa had suffered an opening match loss to France and needed victories in their final two matches to stay in contention.

However, USA got off to a flying start, landing two tries through speedster Perry Baker and Lucas Lacamp, taking a commanding 14-0 lead. Shujaa captain Nelson Oyoo managed to pull one back with a try just before halftime, and the conversion made it 14-7 going into the break.
After the restart, Alvin Otieno scored the second try for Kenya, and the conversion by Anthony Omondi was on point, tying the scores at 14-14. However, Baker restored USA’s lead with a converted try, putting them ahead by seven points.
Despite George Ooro’s later try for Kenya, they were unable to close the gap with a conversin, and the match ended in a 21-19 victory for USA, leaving Shujaa with their second loss of the tournament.

With one match left to play, Kenya will need to regroup and put in a strong performance to keep their hopes of making it to the quarters alive. It won’t be an easy task, but the team will be determined to bounce back and finish the tournament on a high note.
The teams that managed to secure two wins on the opening day were Argentina, Great Britain, and New Zealand. Argentina started the day strong, with a 10-0 victory over Ireland, followed by a commanding 42-7 win over Japan.
Great Britain had a nail-biting 19-17 win over Japan, before securing a 14-7 victory over Ireland.
New Zealand had a dominant performance, winning 47-0 against Hong Kong before securing a 24-12 victory over Australia.
South Africa got off to a shaky start with a 0-19 loss to Australia, but they bounced back with a convincing 31-12 win over Hong Kong.
On the other hand, Samoa managed to secure a hard-fought 28-24 win over Spain, while Fiji continued their strong form with a 21-12 victory over Canada.
