The Western Region Schools Rugby 15s tournament at Mundika High School saw Koyonzo, Kolanya, and Butula maintain unbeaten records.
On Thursday, Koyonzo defeated Chavakali 45-0, with tries from Jackson Siketa, Erick Mbakaya, Mike Mureithi, Darrel Omondi, Emmanuel, and Shakur Nyongesa. Koyonzo have already secured a place in the semis with one game to spare.
Meanwhile, Kolanya secured a spot in the semis by defeating Bungoma High School 3-0 in a closely contested match that was settled by a solitary penalty.
Koyonzo and Kolanya will face off on Friday in a Pool B decider, with both teams yet to taste defeat in the pool.
Western Region Rugby 15s Schools Champions lose
In Pool A, Butula and Vihiga lead the standings, having won a match and drawn the other. National Prescott Cup Champions Vihiga High School pulled off an upset by defeating KSSSA and Western Region Champions Kakamega School 15-3 in their second match, keeping their hopes of making it to the quarters alive.
With Butula, Vihiga and Kakamega still in contention for a spot in the semis, the win by Vihiga has opened up the pool.
Kakamega will play against Butula on Friday needing a win to reach the last four, while Vihiga will face off against Kimobo. The top two teams from each pool will proceed to the semis.
