Denis Abukuse brace helps Kenya 7s beat Series holders Australia in Los Angeles

Denis Abukuse scored a brace of tries to lead Kenya 7s to a come-from-behind 12-7 victory over Australia in the Los Angeles 7s.

It was always going to be a tough game for Kenya 7s, considering they had struggled to beat the 2022 World 7s Series champions in their last meetings with the last win being in December 2019.

The match started on a high note for Australia, with Tim Clements scoring the opening try just three minutes into the game.

However, Kenya 7s battled hard and managed to score the equalizer just before halftime. Denis Abukuse broke through the Australian defense and scored a try that was converted by Anthony Omondi, leveling the scores at 7-7.

In the second half, Kenya 7s had another break, and Abukuse was once again in the thick of things, scoring his second try of the match. The crowd erupted in cheers as Kenya took the lead.

The Kenyan team managed to hold on to their slim lead and won the match. They will now face Fiji on Sunday at 1:18 AM East African time as they seek to reach the quarterfinals for the first time this season.

The win over Australia will undoubtedly give them a confidence boost going into the match against the Fijians, who are always a tough team to beat. T
