Kenya Lionesses squad for Rugby Africa Cup named

Kenya Lionesses head coach Dennis Mwanja has announced his squad ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup Women’s 15s Pool B matches scheduled for Uganda.

Sevens stars Grace Odhiambo, Naomi Amuguni, Christabel Olindi, Jean Bisela, Leah Wambui, Stellah Wafula, Laureen Akoth and Ann Goreti who were part of the World 7s Challenge Series have been included in Mwanja’s 25-man squad.

Mwanja has also picked Bernadette Olesia, Knight Otwoma, Terry Ayesa, Stacy Atieno, Everlyne Kalemera for the trip. The squad will be captained by Peruz Muyuka.

The Lionesses will face Zambia and hosts Uganda in the three tournament that will be played on a round robin basis. They start their campaign with a clash against Zambia on Saturday 29 October 2022 before taking on hosts Uganda on Wednesday 2 November 2022.

The winner of this pool will qualify for next year’s Pool A competition which also features continental champions South Africa and Namibia.

The Lionesses have been in non-residential training under the tutelage of former Kenya Sevens international Dennis Mwanja.
