Homeboyz halfback Mike Nyakundi was named the Most Valuable Player in the just concluded Dala 7s held at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Mamboleo in Kisumu County.
Nyakundi was joined on the award-winning list by youngster Amon Wamalwa who walked away with two awards. Wamalwa was the tournament’s leading try scorer as well as the top points scorer. Wamalwa, who had a great debut with Kenya 7s at the Rugby Africa Men’s 7s tournament in April, scoring in their Bronze win against Zambia as Shujaa qualified for the World Cup, scored the first try as Homeboyz went on to recapture the Cup title they previously won in 2017. The Deejayz defeated Menengai Oilers 19-14.
The youngster has won the top scorer and top points scorer honours for the second time this season. He won both awards in the Christie 7s, the second round of the National Sevens Circuit in 2022.
For with God nothing shall be impossible 🤲.
What a time to be alive!🙏
