Kenya Simbas scrum-half Samuel Asati was named the Man of the Match in the side’s victory against Uganda Cranes in the Rugby Africa Cup quarterfinal match Saturday.
The KCB rugby scrum-half played a key role in Simbas 42-7 win over the Uganda. Asati scored the third try in the win while Centre John Okoth bagged a brace.
Other try scorers were Thomas Okeyo, Bethuel Anami and substitute Teddy Akala. Darwin Mukidza scored five conversions as Jone Kubu made one conversions.
“The 2022 RWC Qualifiers Man of The Match in our quarterfinal against the Rugby Cranes. Good job Asati, keep up the great work,” a statement by the Simbas confirmed.
Asati made his Kenya Simbas debut in August 2019 starting in their 31-16 win over Zambia at RFUEA Grounds in the Victoria Cup return leg match.
Asati also won the Man of the Match award in the clash. The Rugby Africa Barthes Cup winner with Kenya Under 20 will be keen to carry the form to semis where the Simbas are to face Algeria.
Algeria qualified for the semi-final after eliminating Senegal who beat Kenya Simbas at Nyayo Stadium in Pool stage matches in 2021.
The match is scheduled for Wednesday 6 July 2022 with the winner set for the final scheduled for Sunday.
