Homeboyz winger John Kibii has undergone a successful surgery on his ankle, the Jamhuri-based club has confirmed.
Kibii picked a nasty ankle injury while playing for the 2016 and 2018 National Sevens Champions at the Driftwood 7s last weekend. The injury occurred during their quarterfinal match against Kabras RFC which ended 10-5 in the Deejayz favour.
“Winger Kibii underwent a successful ankle surgery earlier on today and came out on high spirits! We wish him a quick recovery!, the statement by the club reads.
The player is expected to be out for three to four months.

The team’s focus switches to the Dala 7s, where they hope to repeat their 2016 and 2017 performance that saw them crowned Champions. They defeated Kenya Harlequin 48-5 at Mamboleo Grounds in 2016. Charles Omondi scored a brace of tries while Bush Mwale, Cyprian Kuto, Alvin Otieno, Max Kang’eri and Kevin Masai scored in the win.
Homeboyz regained the Dala 7s championship with a hard-fought 12-10 victory over KCB a year later. Ahmed Shaban put KCB ahead 5-0, but Mike Wanjala converted Oscar Okaron’s attempt to give the deejayz a 7-5 advantage at halftime.
The deejayz extended their advantage at 12-5 when Jeff Oluoch grounded the ball. Homeboyz held out to retain the Dala Sevens, with Arthur Owira landing a late try at the corner to make it 12-10.
