Kabras RFC completed a remarkable cup double in the 2021/2022 15s season, defeating KCB Rugby 9-6 in the final to win the 2022 Enterprise Cup, adding to their Kenya Cup victory.

South African flyhalf Ntabeni Dukisa responded to the occasion in a fiercely contested encounter at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday afternoon, converting three penalties to secure a hard-fought narrow win in a match decided by the boots after both sides failed to score a try.

While Smith Muhoya scored two penalties for the Bankers, it was not enough as the Curtis Olago-coached team finished the season without a trophy.

In the early minutes of the match, KCB took the higher ground by camping deep in Kabras territory.

Despite their early dominance, the sugarmen were able to turn the tide in their favour when an infraction was called on a KCB player who failed to roll away, giving them the first opportunity to score points.

Dukisa stepped up to take the subsequent penalty kick, but his kick drifted slightly to the left, keeping the scoreboard blank.

On a second penalty invitation, Dukisa this time gave his side a 3-0 lead after splitting the upright with a successful attempt.

The Bankers found their response in game that lacked movement owing to repeated stops and starts, as Muhoya effectively converted KCB penalty to restore parity at 3-3, which was held into the half.

In the second half, Kabras’ clever defence neutralized the threat of KCB’s huge and strong men, while the Bankers likewise defended well.
With points hard to come by, KCB took 3-6 lead after Muhoya drilled in his second penalty, but determined Kabras stayed close by equalizing and retaking the lead through two Dukisa penalty conversions, the match winner, earning KCB the cup, bragging rights, and the season double in largely fruitful season for the Kakamega based side.
