KCB Rugby finished third in the 2021/22 Kenya Cup season after a 52-22 victory over Strathmore Leos in the third-place playoff played at KCB Sports Club.
The former Champions had lost to Menengai Oilers 24-17 last weekend and dropped to the third place playoff while Strathmore Leos lost 29-9 to Kabras.
Leos scored in opening minute of the clash through winger Brunson Madigu and Andrew Matoka added the extras for a 7-0 lead. A reply by KCB followed at the fourth minute with Bob Muhati crossing over for a try that Darwin Mukidza converted.
Matoka would then rejoin the scoresheet with a try which he converted to take the scores to 14-7. The students were reduced to 14 following a yellow card to their flanker but they grabbed a try through Madigu before Vincent Onyala scored for the hosts.
Strathmore conceded the second yellow and tries by Oscar Simiyu, Muhati and skipper Curtis Lilako followed with Mukidza converting two to take a 35-19 lead to the break.
It was Brian Wahinya who opened second half scores with a try that he converted for a 42-19 lead. Madigu got a penalty in the half but the side conceded another yellow card.
Martin Owilla and Mike Kimwele went on to score two more tries that saw them win 52-22.
