Namibia will face off with Kenya Simbas in the Rugby Africa Cup final on Sunday 10 July 2022 in Marseille in a match that will determine who will be crowned the Africa Cup Champion and a direct ticket to Rugby Africa Cup.
The Welwitschias beat Zimbabwe Sables 34-19 in the second semi-final played on Wednesday. The Namibians scored 14 points in the first half and 20 in the final half to edge closer to another World Cup qualification.
Allister Coetzee charges scores two converted tries in the opening half while Zimbabwe had a five-pointer for a 14-5. In the final half, Namibia began strongly landing a try that was converted for a 21-5 lead. Cliven Loubser also added a penalty for 24-5.
Zimbabwe pulled back with a converted try but Namibia broke away with JC Greyling scoring off a grabber kick for a 29-12. Wian Conradie rose off the scrum-down and scored a try that saw them move to 34 points.
Despite Loubser’s late yellow card, Zimbabwe could only add one converted try. The final against Kenya will be a repeat of the 2018 Rugby Africa Gold Cup final match which Namibia won 53-28. When the sides last face in a test match in 2021, Namibia won 60-24 in Stellenbosch.
