South Coast Pirates have announced the departure of head coach Tony Khadambi following the expiry of his one-year contract.
Khadambi guided the coastal side to the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championship promotion playoffs, where their bid for a place in the top flight ended with a defeat to Homeboyz Rugby Club.
In a statement, the club thanked the coach for his contribution during his time in charge.
“South Coast Pirates and Head Coach Tony Khadambi have parted ways following the conclusion of his one-year contract. We thank Coach Tony for his dedication, passion, and commitment to the Pirates badge throughout the past season and wish him nothing but success in his next chapter. The club will communicate updates on the coaching structure in due course. Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate.”

A former Kakamega School student, Khadambi has continued to build an impressive coaching résumé. Earlier this year, he graduated as part of the first cohort of coaches under the Coaches Training and Development Programme run by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-Kenya).
Beyond his role with South Coast Pirates, Khadambi recently returned to Uganda as a coaching consultant with Storm RFC, where he played a key role in helping the club secure promotion to the Uganda Rugby Premiership.
His departure marks the end of a season that saw South Coast Pirates make significant progress, falling just one step short of earning promotion to the Kenya Cup.
