Mwamba RFC bounced back in style from last weekend’s defeat to Kisii RFC with a dominant 41–7 win over Western Bulls in their KRU Championship clash on Saturday.
Western Bulls, playing their first away match of the season after failing to honour their fixture against Catholic Monks due to financial constraints, struggled to settle as Mwamba delivered a ruthless attacking display from the opening whistle.
Eugine Ojiambo set the tone early, scoring the opener and converting for a 7–0 lead. Moments later, Allan Gumbo finished off a well-worked move, with Ojiambo adding the extras to stretch Mwamba’s advantage to 14–0.
Brian Kahura dived over for Mwamba’s third try, though the conversion drifted wide. Ojiambo then punished the visitors from the tee with a calmly taken penalty, giving Mwamba a 22–0 cushion at halftime.
The second half started just as brightly for the hosts. Ian Andaje crossed in the corner before adding his second try from a driving maul. Ojiambo converted the latter to push Mwamba further ahead at 34–0.
Western Bulls finally responded with their first try of the afternoon, reducing the score to 34–7, but Mwamba quickly restored control. Shaquel Bosire added another try, with Ojiambo converting to seal a comprehensive 41–7 victory.
Kisii RFC closed the year unbeaten after securing a narrow 6-3 victory over NYS Spades in a National Nationwide final rematch, a fixture they also won earlier in the year.

Both sides came into the clash buoyed by big wins over former Kenya Cup teams Mwamba and Homeboyz and were eager to extend their strong runs. With no tries scored in the contest, the first half belonged to Kisii RFC as Angelo Makori slotted in two penalties for a 6-0 halftime lead.
In the final half, NYS responded with a penalty of their own, but it proved to be the only score after the break as Kisii held firm to maintain their unbeaten run.
Elsewhere, Mean Machine halted Zetech Oaks’ impressive start to the season with a convincing 30-12 win in Mang’u, while JKUAT Cougars returned to winning ways following last weekend’s draw.
South Coast Pirates also ended the year positively, with Tony Khadambi registering back-to-back wins as head coach after his side outclassed USIU Martials 37-7 in their first home fixture.
Catholic Monks continued their fine form, powering to a 35-12 victory over Mombasa RFC to stay top of the standings.
