KCB Rugby, MMUST, Strathmore Leos and Menengai Oilers secured their spots in the Embu 7s semifinals after hard-fought quarterfinal victories at the ASK Showground Njukiiri in Embu County on Sunday.
The Bankers will now face MMUST in the first semi, while Strathmore Leos take on Oilers in the other semifinal clash.
In the 5th place semis, Kabras Sugar will battle Nakuru RFC as Daystar Falcons take on Kenya Harlequin.
KCB Thrash Kabras Again
KCB continued their fine form, brushing aside rivals Kabras Sugar 21-5 to seal a fourth consecutive semifinal berth this season. It was also their third win over Kabras in as many meetings.
Samuel Asati opened the scoring with Brian Wahinya converting for 7-0, before a penalty try stretched the lead to 14-0 at the break.
Kabras’ Brian Mutua pulled one back but Floyd Wabwire’s converted try sealed a dominant 21-5 win.
MMUST Reach First Semi
MMUST reached their first semifinal of the season after edging Nakuru RFC 21-19.
Christant Ojwang was first to score for Nakuru before MMUST responded through Clarence Hope converted by Veron Kaburu for 7-5 lead with Veron Kaburu and Donald Litali adding other two tries converted by Veron Kaburu for 21-5 lead.
Nakuru would then respond with two tries from Joel Okeyo and Felix Okoth with conversions from Habbakhuk Ouma to bring scores 21-19 at fulltime.

Leos Edge Daystar
Strathmore Leos continued their strong run, making it four straight semifinal appearances after a commanding 29-5 victory over Daystar Falcons.
Victor Odhiambo bagged a brace, with Arnold Muita and Elton Amalemba also getting on the scoresheet. Daystar managed a consolation through Vincent Omuroka, but it was never enough.
Oilers Go Past Quins
In the last Cup quarter, Oilers edged Kenya Harlequin 19-14.
Ramadhan Masete and Brian Achacha had put Quins ahead, but Oilers struck back through Daniel Kipchirchir and Alvin Khavoli to open a 19-7 lead. Leon Nyang scored late for Quins, but Oilers held on.
Challenge Trophy Drama
The Challenge Trophy served up thrilling encounters as Mwamba edged Stallions 19-17, Catholic Monks beat Nondies 15-5, Embu RFC stunned Impala 29-24 in sudden death, while Mean Machine shocked Zetech Oaks 12-7.
With the losses, Stallions, Nondies and Zetech Oaks were relegated, and will now need invites to feature in the Mwamba 7s, the fifth leg of the circuit in Nairobi in 13 days’ time.
Monks and Mean Machine survived the drop after picking crucial wins.
