The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced that it will host Super Week 2025, a premier capacity-building event, from 9th to 11th May 2025 at Shalom House in Nairobi.
In a statement, KRU said Super Week 2025, organized in partnership with Rugby Afrique and World Rugby, will focus on growing and professionalizing rugby in Kenya and the region through elite-level training and development courses.
Four key courses are scheduled during the three-day event starting with the Strength and Conditioning (SNC) Level 2 course will run from 9th to 11th May. According to the statement, this will be the third SNC course ever held in Kenya, the last having taken place four years ago.
Richard Ochieng and Geoffrey Kimani will facilitate the sessions under the supervision of Denver Wannies, a Master Trainer from Rugby Afrique. Twelve participants drawn from the Kenya Cup, Championship, and Nationwide leagues are expected to attend.
The Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR) Level 2 course will then be held on 9th and 10th May. Facilitated by James Ondiege and Gerald Omondi, it will also target twelve participants from the 15s leagues. The sessions will be overseen by Dr. Joseph Kalanzi, a World Rugby medical trainer.

On 11th May, KRU will host the First Aid in Rugby (FAIR) Level 1 course, aimed at providing foundational first aid training to participants. Christopher Makachia, Lamech Bogonko, Levyce Kityui, Phillemon Odidi, and Joseph Kolli will facilitate the course under the supervision of Dr. James Ondiege.
Also scheduled for 11th May is the Activate/Injury Prevention Programme. The course will be led by Alex Agallo and Michael Shamiah, with 25 participants expected, including Kenya Rugby Union Regional Development Officers.
Practical sessions will be conducted in collaboration with the Kings Rugby Development Academy to promote injury prevention measures across different rugby regions.
“In addition to upskilling participants, Super Week 2025 will also serve as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for medical trainer James Ondiege and SNC trainer Richard Ochieng,” the statement read.
Robert Bwali, Rugby Afrique’s Game Growth Manager for Anglophone countries is set to provide versight for the event . Bwali and Wannies will also assess Kenya U20 Head Coach Simon Jawichre as he undertakes his Level 3 Part 1 (15s) coaching accreditation.
In addition, Bwali will conduct a Union Development Review involving the KRU Chief Executive Officer, Director of Rugby, and the Union’s Development staff as part of ongoing efforts to enhance rugby growth structures in Kenya.
