The KSSSA National 15s Rugby games kicked off with defending champions All Saints Embu, former champions Upper Hill School, first-timers Bwake Boys, and Vihiga High School registering opening-day wins.
All Saints Embu began their title defence with a narrow 3-0 victory over Coastal side Serani High School, in a tightly contested match.
Upper Hill, the former champions, made a statement with a 28-5 win over Mang’u High School. They scored two converted tries in each half, securing a bonus-point win thanks to their four-try haul.
In Pool B, debutants Bwake Boys came from behind to defeat Marafa 13-9. The Rift Valley representatives trailed 9-5 before turning the game around with a try and a penalty to seal the win.

Vihiga High School also had to rally from behind to edge Kisii High School 11-9. Kisii led through penalties, but Vihiga responded with a try and a penalty to take an 8-6 lead before adding another three-pointer to seal the win.

After day one, Upper Hill School lead Pool A with five points, being the only side to secure a bonus-point victory. All Saints Embu follow with four points after their slim win over Serani, who managed a losing bonus and have one point, while Mang’u High School are yet to register any points.

In Pool B, Bwake Boys and Vihiga High School each have four points after their respective wins. Kisii High School and Marafa both managed a point apiece courtesy of losing bonus points.
