Musingu School grabbed the spotlight on day one of the Kakamega County 15s School Games at Musingu School on Thursday.
Chomoka Rugby, with former Kakamega School captain Martin Tavale among their coaching staff, caused a major upset by defeating defending champions Koyonzo 9-6 in a tightly contested match. The game saw no tries, with the result decided by kicks.
Musingu in Kakamega County 15s
Musingu School finished top of Pool A on day one after a dominant 52-0 victory over Khwisero in their opening match, securing their place in the quarterfinals.
In their first match, Koyonzo edged Mukumu 10-3, but Mukumu, coached by Allan Kasiti, bounced back with an impressive 51-3 win over Khwisero.

Former Champions Kakamega School also progressed to the quarterfinals after topping Pool D.
They crushed Makhokho School 57-0 and then triumphed 51-0 over Kivaywa to reach the last eight.
Another former Champion, St. Peters Mumias also made it to the quarterfinals after a 38-0 victory over Chebuyusi and a 32-3 win over Shamberere.
The preliminary rounds will conclude on Friday, with the teams heading straight into the quarterfinals.
