Kenya has achieved a milestone in rugby medical training with Jimmy Ondiege being accredited as the country’s first-ever Medical Trainer by World Rugby.
Ondiege received this accreditation after successfully completing a rigorous Trainer Course held at Loftus Park, Pretoria, from January 22 to 25, 2025.

Ondiege attended the training alongside Richard Ochieng, a Strength & Conditioning Trainer.
The course, part of the World Rugby and Rugby Africa Training & Education (T&E) program, focused on developing trainers across various disciplines, including medical, coaching, and strength & conditioning (S&C).

“Ondiege now joins an elite group of only three accredited Medical Trainers in the region, with the other two based in Uganda,” the Union stated.
His accreditation strengthens Kenya’s rugby development by enhancing the expertise available in player welfare and high-performance training.
