Kenya Cup side Nakuru RFC have been dealt a blow just a week into the new season following the resignation of Chairman Mwangi Mucemi, Standard Sport reports.
Mucemi resignation comes weeks after the exit of Head Coach Mitch Ocholla who quit the club after the National 7s Circuit to join Impala Saracens with his assistant coach Felix Oloo being confirmed as the interim coach.
The Standard reports that Mucemi handed in his resignation letter on Monday, just a day after the start of the season where the side suffered a 31-5 loss to Menengai Oilers.
“I feel honoured and privileged to have served as your chairman for the past two years. My main task was to stabilise the club and get it back to its winning ways. I would also like to thank players, coaches and management for the great work they did during my tenure.” Mucemi’s letter was quoted by the outlet.
The Club is reported to be having issues especially with the senior players who have not been paid because they have not fulfilled their contractual Obligations. The club will be keen to find a solution to their problems in order to focus on the season.
Nakuru will be at home this weekend on Kenya Cup match-day two to play Homeboyz.
