Nondies finish 3rd in Floodlit after win over Blad

Nondies secured the third position in the Impala Floodlit playoffs by defeating Blak Blad 31-15 in a competitive match at Impala Club.

Heading into the game, Blak Blad was determined to replicate last year’s third-place finish, having edged Menengai Oilers 14-11 in 2023.

Nondies keen to finish

Nondies, on the other hand, had seen a drop from last year after missing the finals but were focused on ending their campaign on a high note.

Nondies took the lead early with a try from experienced player Charles Omondi, which was converted by Moseti Nyaenya to make it 7-0. Winger Daniel Okito then extended their lead, diving over to bring the score to 12-0.

Their third try came off a well-executed maul. Omondi, after securing the lineout, formed the maul and turned to score for 17-0.

Blak Blad responded with a penalty, but their momentum stalled when Feeney Ahona’s impressive break ended in a knock-on by a teammate in the try box . Blak Blad managed to score just before halftime through Jenkins Kipruto.

Nondies burry 2nd half

In the second half, Ahona finally crossed the line, breaking on the left side to close the gap to 17-15 after a successful conversion.

Nondies, however, regained control when Okito Blad on counter after a poor kick in their own 22.

Ambrose Ouko scored off a ruck, with Salem converting to secure a 31-15 lead.

Nondies held their ground to clinch the win, claiming third place in the tournament.
