The 2024 Africa Men’s 7s tournament concluded with Uganda emerging as champions after maintaining a perfect record across both legs of the competition held at Labourdonnais Sports Grounds, Mauritius, from June 29-30 and July 6-7, 2024.
Uganda’s consistent performance across the two weekends saw them collect maximum points, ending the campaign with 40 points.
Africa Men’s 7s win
This victory secured Coach Tolbert Onyango’s team a place in the 2025 Challenger Series, giving them another opportunity to compete for a spot in the 2026 World Series.
South Africa settled for second place overall, having finished third in the first leg and second in the second leg, accumulating a total of 34 points.
Madagascar impressed throughout the tournament, finishing third overall and also earning a place in the 2025 Challenger Series. The Makis, known for their captivating style of play, finished fourth in the second leg, collecting 14 points, which added to their previous points for a total of 32 points.

Zimbabwe’s Cheetahs secured fourth place overall, showing improvement by finishing third in the second leg. However, they missed out on a Challenger Series slot, ending with 28 points.
Burkina Faso experienced a drop in performance, finishing fifth with 26 points after earning just 1 point in the first leg.
Morans in Africa Men’s 7s
Kenya Morans had a dismal run in the tournament, collecting 20 points after finishing sixth in both legs. Under Coach Louis Kisia, they failed to advance past the quarterfinals in either leg. Ivory Coast and Zambia rounded out the top eight.
As the teams shift their focus to the 2025 Africa Men’s 7s, several are expected to participate in the 2024 Safari 7s.
