Kabras RFC’s forward Gabriel Adero has described winning the Kenya Cup as an incredible feeling and he is eyeing more success with the Kakamega-based side.

He started playing for Kabras in January and helped them win the Kenya Cup in April. Adero’s first game with Kabras was as a substitute against Homeboyz where he came in as a replacement player.

Gabriel Adero big moment

He had a big moment when Jeanson Misoga was injured against KCB in the final match of the regular season. He played against Nondies and KCB in the Kenya Cup semis and final and went on to win his first Kenya Cup title.

Speaking to Kabras media, Adero talked about why he chose to join Kabras revealing that he always admired how Kabras operated.

“I’ve known Kabras for their strong reputation, their commitment to excellence and their winning culture. I was drawn to the club’s values and their dedication to developing players both on and off the field. I saw it as a great opportunity to challenge myself, grow as a player and contribute to a successful team. Plus, the warm welcome and support I received from the club made it an easy decision for me to join Kabras Rugby Club,” he stated.

Winning the Kenya Cup so soon after joining Kabras meant a lot to Adero.

“It’s an incredible feeling. I’m proud and grateful for this achievement,” he said. And he’s not stopping there. “I want to win more titles with Kabras and play for the national team,” he added.

He also shared that it was tough to earn a starting slot as a prop following the level of experienced players in the slots.

“Joining the club as a prop was quite a challenge since I was competing with experienced players in that position, unlike my previous club where I dominated the position. I focused on staying positive and motivated until I was given a chance to play my primary position as a back-row in the finals.
“I used the time I had to work on improving my skills, staying in top physical condition with the help of our S&C Ritchie and studying the game plans as I waited for my transfer to be accomplished. I also reminded myself that hard work and dedication always pay off in the end, Overall, I stayed focused on my season goal which was to play in the Kenya Cup finals,” he added.

Gabriel Adero’s target

He concluded by saying: “My main goal is to win more Kenya Cup trophies with the club and even advance to represent the club in the National team set-up. I’m looking forward to becoming one of the best impact players.”
