Nakuru confirmed their spot in the KRU Championship playoff with a 31-20 win over Mwamba after a breathless match which was unpredictable as the teams turned the lead every time during the event.
Nakuru got an early lead by landing the first try but the conversion was short to make the scoreboard 5-0 before Mwamba drilled in three points from a penalty against Nakuru to turn the scores to 3-5.
After a long run, Nakuru landed their second converted try to widen the deficit which was short-lived as Mwamba’s Brian Ayimba passed to Joel Inzuga who landed Kulabu’s first try and extras by Xavier Kipng’etich to mark the final first-half scores at 12 Nakuru and 10 Mwamba.
In the second half Mwamba drilled in a Penalty through Xavier in the early kick-off to take the narrow lead before Nakuru crossed the whitewash to land their third try in the match and once again missed the conversion which made them lead with a 4 points deficit.
Ronnie Omondi ensured his name appeared in the scoresheet after piercing through Nakuru’s defence and successfully crossed over the whitewash to score a try and extras by Xavier to snatch the lead and turn the face of the scoresheet to 20 – 17.
Nakuru landed a corner post try and successfully converted to take the lead once more before they intercepted and landed a converted centre post try to secure the victory of 31-20 over Mwamba at the RFUEA Grounds.
Nakuru RFC have now bagged five points and end the season with 24 points,level with Mwamba and Blak Blad.
