Shujaa began their Safari 7s title defence in emphatic fashion with a commanding 55-0 win over Uganda National 7s Champions, Walukuba, at Nyayo Stadium.
The match was part of the final three fixtures that were postponed on Friday due to floodlight issues at the venue.
Kenya 7s forward Kevin Wekesa opened the scoring with a powerful break down the right wing to give Shujaa a 5-0 lead. The advantage was soon doubled after a high tackle saw Vincent Onyala take a quick tap penalty and set up George Ooro for the second try, which was converted for a 12-0 lead.
Patrick Odongo extended the lead to 19-0 with a try in the corner after being set up by Ooro, who then added his second try—converted for 26-0. A change of direction in attack allowed Nygel Amaitsa to score the final try of the first half, giving Shujaa a commanding 33-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Festus Shiasi added a converted try to make it 40-0. Gabriel Ayimba came off the bench to score a brace, pushing the score to 50-0. Wekes completed his own brace as Shujaa maintained relentless pressure on Walukuba, sealing the match at 55-0.

Nyati, a side composed of Kenyan university players, put in a spirited performance to beat Uganda 24-12. They started brightly, with Anderson Oduor and Brian Ondego combining for the opening try. Ondego then added a second at the corner, slipping past his markers for a 12-0 lead.
Uganda, now under new coach Allan Otim, responded with a try two minutes before halftime. However, Oduor capitalized on a penalty by kicking behind the defence, regathering the ball himself, and scoring to make it 19-5 at the break.
Uganda struck again after the restart, but Felix Okumu crossed over in the corner to seal the 24-12 win for Nyati.
In one of the day’s most exciting matches, UK Select narrowly defeated the French Renegades 28-21.
The tightly contested encounter saw both teams trade tries, but it was the UK side that managed to hold their nerve and edge their French opponents by a single score.
