Mwamba RFC Ladies are the Prinsloo 7s champions following a hard-fought 15-10 victory over Kenya Harlequin Queens in a final played at the Nakuru Athletic Club.
This was the first women’s tournament of the season and marked a debut outing for coach Mary Ochieng, who recently joined Mwamba from Impala.
Mwamba RFC lead
Kulabu Ladies were making their second consecutive appearance in the Prinsloo 7s final, having lost to Impala in the 2024 edition.
Kenya Lionesses international Edith Nariaka opened the scoring for Mwamba after spotting a gap off the scrum and racing clear to touch down.
Kenya Harlequin’s Maxine Abuga had a chance to level the scores after outpacing her marker, but she lost control of the ball while going over the line, allowing Mwamba to escape unscathed.

Refa Ochando would later cross over for Quins with a late first-half try that tied the scores at 5-5 heading into the break.
In the second half, Moureen Muritu stepped outside her marker and sprinted to the try line to give Quins the lead.
Mwamba RFC equalize
However, Mwamba responded through Nariaka, who sliced through the defence and scored near the posts. The conversion attempt was missed, keeping the scores level.
Nariaka then completed her hat-trick with a brilliant corner try after once again finding space on the outside, sealing a 15-10 win for Mwamba and securing the Prinsloo 7s title.
