Day one of the Vihiga county 7s kicked off with intensity, featuring action-packed matches with Chavakali, Vihiga, Senende registering winning starts.
The first match of the day saw Bugina defeat Magui with a score of 15-05. This was followed by a Pool A game where Gamalenga and Ekwanda battled to a 14-14 draw in their opening fixture.
In Pool B, Senende asserted their dominance, comfortably beating Busali 53-00, while East Africa Champions Vihiga secured a convincing victory over Hobunaka with a score of 40-00.

Pool C featured hosts Chavakali dismantling Esalwa with a score of 34-07. Kegoye also impressed, securing a 20-05 win over Emusire.
In the most thrilling match of the day, with Nyang’ori grabbing a narrow 22-21 victory over Kaptik. Ebusiloli achieved a 28-0 walkover victory against Ebubayi.

Magui also registered a 17-00 winover Ekwanda with Bugina settling for a 7-7 draw over Gamalenga.
Vihiga 7s Girls
In the girls’ category, Pool A opened with a commanding performance from Madira, who thrashed Goibei 47-00 however Madira then overcame Tigoi in their second match in a thrilling encounter, winning 43-00.
In Pool B, Kaimosi emerged as a formidable force, crushing Bukulunya 25-00 in Game 3 but were defeated by Keveye 17-00 in Game 6. Keveye had started their campaign with a narrow 12-05 win over Idavaga in game 2 but struggled to maintain momentum.

Pool C saw Kisangula start with 12-05 victory over Kaptik. Mudavadi on their side overpowered Vokoli with a score of 26-07.
Vihiga county 7s action continues tomorrow Friday 13th July 2025 at Chavakali High School after day one was disrupted with heavy downpour in the evening.
