Kabras RFC secured their fifth consecutive victory over KCB Rugby, triumphing 25-17 at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday.
This win not only marks another dominant performance for the Sugarmen but also extends their remarkable unbeaten streak to 39 matches in the Kenya Cup.

Kabras have now topped the league standings for six consecutive years, picking 52 points against KCB’s 50.
Heavy rain before the match left the pitch wet, but Kabras wasted no time getting on the scoreboard.
A quick try came from a lineout, where KCB’s Andy Cole Omolo intercepted Kabras’ throw. However, Kevin Wekesa reacted quickly to scoop up the loose ball and score on the left side, giving the Sugarmen a 5-0 lead. Ntabeni Dukisa converted from a tight angle to extend the lead to 7-0.
KCB responded swiftly, capitalizing on a miscommunication in Kabras’ back three. Austin Sikutwa pounced on a kick-and-chase opportunity to score, and he also converted, leveling the score at 7-7.
Kabras regained the lead with a penalty from Dukisa, making it 10-7. KCB hit back with a patient buildup, culminating in a try from Griffin Musila, which gave them a 12-10 advantage. Sikutwa’s conversion extended KCB’s lead to 14-10.
The Sugarmen narrowed the gap with another penalty from Dukisa (14-13), before adding another to edge ahead 16-14. KCB responded with a penalty from Sikutwa to reclaim the lead at 17-16.
Kabras took a narrow 19-17 advantage into the break, with Dukisa converting a final penalty just before halftime.

In the second half, Kabras extended their lead to 22-17 with another successful penalty from Dukisa. KCB spent much of the half in Kabras’ territory but struggled to break down a resolute defence.
Kabras came close to scoring a try from a maul, but Teddy Akala was held up just short of the line.
A backline move also nearly resulted in a try, but Lamec Ambetsa lost possession due to a knock-on.

The referee called back play for a penalty, which Dukisa slotted over for a 25-17 lead.
Despite KCB’s late efforts, Kabras’ defence held strong, allowing them to secure the victory and extend their impressive unbeaten run from 2022.
