KCB Rugby overwhelm Catholic Monks to secure spot in Enterprise Cup semis

KCB rugby delivered a commanding performance against Catholic Monks, clinching an 86-7 victory in the quarterfinals of the Enterprise Cup at the KCB Sports Club on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The bankers were the brighter side in the early minutes of the exchange, with Michael Wanjala scoring the first try just four minutes into the match. Austine Sikutwa converted successfully, giving KCB an early 7-0 lead.

Captain Jacob Ojee quickly followed up with another try three minutes later, though the conversion attempt was unsuccessful, extending the lead to 12-0.

Philip Walukana scored the first try for the Monks, and Victor Reins converted it, narrowing the gap to 12-7. However, KCB responded swiftly with a try from Fidel Maina, and Sikutwa’s conversion pushed their lead to 19-7.

KCB continued to dominate, adding three more tries with one from rising star Andycole Omolo and another from Captain Jacob Ojee, both of which went unconverted.

Just before halftime, Omolo scored again, bringing the halftime score to 34-7.

In the second half, KCB maintained their momentum. Felix Ojow added another try, followed by Sikutwa converting Isaac Njoroge’s try, increasing the lead to 46-7.

The Catholic Monks struggled defensively, allowing Tyson Maina to score an unconverted try.

KCB continued their offensive onslaught with addtional tries from Jacob Ojee and Tyson Maina each scoring a brace along with a try from Mannasseh Oduor with all the tries being successfully converted by Levy Amunga, culminating in an impressive 86-7 victory.

This win secures KCB a place in the Enterprise Cup semifinals on March 15, 2025, where they will face Kabras, who defeated Kenya Harlequin 43-20 at the Kakamega Showground.
