JKUAT complete double over Zetech to advance to Mwamba Cup semis; Kenya Prisons whip UoE

The JKUAT Cougars triumphed over the Zetech Oaks with a score of 24-15, securing their place in the Mwamba Cup semifinals during a quarterfinal match held at the JKUAT grounds on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

In the first half, the hosts showcased their dominance, earning their first points early on with two consecutive penalty kicks converted by Davies Masinga. They then scored their first try shortly after, courtesy of Zaddock Mvia, with Masinga successfully adding the conversion for a 13-0 lead.

As halftime approached, Masinga extended the Cougars’ advantage to 16-0 through a penalty, a score they maintained going into the break.

Just two minutes into the second half, JKUAT added another penalty through Masinga, followed by an unconverted try from Zaddock Mvia, bringing their lead to 24-0.

In a bid to recover, Zetech managed to score three tries through Brian Maina, substitute Michael Omunge, and Lincoln Njangi, narrowing the gap to 24-15. However, the Cougars held firm to secure the victory as the final whistle blew.

In other matches, Kenya Prisons defeated UoE Trojans 37-7. Additionally, Shamberere National Polytechnic advanced to the semifinals without playing, as Makueni RFC failed to show up, resulting in a 28-0 walkover.

Mombasa SC also received a 28-0 walkover after their opponents did not turn up, allowing them to advance without any effort.
