Daystar pip Homeboyz to bounce back; MMUST and CUEA unscathed as Zetech and Machine stumble

Daystar made a strong comeback with a hard-fought 22-20 victory over Homeboyz RFC in a thrilling match held at the Daystar University grounds in Athi River.

Daystar was quick to get on the scoreboard, with Clinton Amukwachi scoring a penalty try in the second minute. Antony Okobo followed up with another try, giving Daystar a 12-0 lead.

Homeboyz responded with their first points of the game, courtesy of Ramadhan Ocete’s penalty kick. Mohammed Omollo then scored their first try, successfully converted by Ken Oduor, narrowing the gap to 12-10.

Just before halftime, Patrick Odongo added an unconverted try for Daystar, extending their lead to 17-10.

In the second half, Homeboyz scored their second try and added the conversion, but Daystar quickly answered back as Patrick Odongo crossed the line for his second try, making it 22-17.

In the dying minutes of the match, Homeboyz landed a penalty, but it was not enough as Daystar held on for a 22-20 win.

In other matches, Mean Machine faced a tough 22-5 defeat against Mombasa SC, ending their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, MMUST continued their dominance with a 35-13 victory over TUM Marines, while JKUAT Cougars snapped Zetech’s winning run with a 22-17 defeat.

CUEA Monks secured a narrow 6-3 win over Western Bulls, and USIU-A Martial celebrated their first win by overcoming UoE Trojans 10-7.
