Kabras RFC made it five out of five in the Kenya Cup with a dominant 73-0 victory over Mwamba at Kakamega Showground.
The champions got off to a strong start, with lock Patrick Sabatia scoring the opening try, and Eric Cantona adding the conversion for a 7-0 lead.
Kabras RFC extend lead
They extended their advantage when scrum-half Barry Robinson crossed the line after a long period of pressure, and Cantona’s conversion made it 14-0.
A series of offloads led to a simple try for teenager Jackson Siketa, who now has three tries in two senior starts. Cantona added the extras for a 21-0 lead.
Sabatia had a chance to score a second try but opted to pass to Cantona, who touched down and converted for a 28-0 scoreline.
Griffin Chao thought he had scored his 11th try of the season, but it was ruled out for an earlier infringement. However, he quickly made up for it, crossing the line shortly after the break. Cantona converted from a tight angle to make it 35-0.
Mwamba lost possession in a promising position but soon turned it around, stealing the ball from a lineout. Barry Robinson sprinted through to score, and Cantona added the conversion for a 42-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Cantona’s kick-off was claimed by Collins Indeche, who powered over for a try, with Cantona converting.
Mwamba managed to frustrate Kabras’ efforts for a while, but after several minutes in the opposition 22, the ball was passed to Chao for a try that increased his tally to 12 for the season. Cantona’s conversion attempt hit the post, leaving the score at 49-0.
Indeche then scored his second try of the day after a series of pick-and-drives, and debutant Samuel Omollo converted.
Chao’s Kabras RFC 13th
Quick hands among the backs set up Chao for his third try, increasing his tally to 13 tries in just four matches. Omollo converted for a 68-0 lead.
The final try came from a counter-attack, with Sabatia releasing a pass to Clinton Litali for the try. Omollo missed the conversion, and the match ended 73-0.
With the victory, Kabras RFC now sit on 25 points after five rounds.
