Kabras RFC overpowered hosts Strathmore Leos as they defeated the varsity side 45-5 in a Kenya Cup game played at Strathmore University grounds.
Kabras went over first when Roy Maruti, making his fourth straight start touched down under the posts. Barry Robinson successfully converted Maruti’s try for an early 7-0 lead.
Kabras would add another try moments later through Eric Cantona before Kenyan International Eugene Sifuna powered over for Kabras’ third.
Walter Okoth touched down in the corner for Kabras’ fourth try. Cantona managed to convert Okoth’s try in a tricky angle to give the visitors a 26-0 lead.
Strathmore Leos pulled one back minutes later after their outside centre went over off the back a brilliant backline move. The conversion attempt went wide.

Kabras Sugar responded almost immediately and it was lock Hillary Odhiambo who scored after a successful pick and drive near Strathmore’s try line. Cantona successfully converted Odhiambo’s try as the sugarmen went into the halftime break leading 33-5.
In the second half, Strathmore Leos came back a rejuvenated side and looked threatening all along but Kabras did well to contain them. Two tries from Griffin Chao, who scored seven times against Kisumu RFC on matchday three, with one being successfully converted by Eric Cantona was the difference as the sugarmen ran away with a 45-5 win.
Chao has moved to 10 tries in three appearances having scored in all three starts.
