Lugulu are the champions of 14th edition of the annual Webuye 10s Tournament after managing a 12-10 narrow win over Bukembe in a final played at Sudi Grounds in Bungoma.
Lugulu showed a remarkable display on the final day of the 2024 Webuye 10s tournament, achieving a 29-00 victory against Kibabii in the quarterfinals.
This success secured their place in the semifinals against Kitale, where they triumphed with a score of 21-07, earning them a spot in the final against Bukembe.
The final was an exciting clash, as Bukembe opened the scoring with a corner try, but the conversion was missed. Shortly after, Lugulu equalized through their speedy player Job Wetangula, who made a break down the right wing, yet they were unable to convert, leaving the score tied at 5-5 at halftime.
In the second half, Lugulu came back strong where Wetangula proved superior as he landed the second try that was converted by Fidel Nyota for a 12-5 lead.
In an effort to recover Bukembe pulled back but missed on the conversion that would have tied the scores at 12. Lugulu held on for 12-10 victory at full-time.

Kitale on their side finished third after securing a 10-05 win over Shinyalu RFC in the third place final while Bungoma RFC emerged victorious in the plate final after defeating Kibabii 17-07.
For the first time in 15 years, this year’s edition was held at the Sudi Rugby grounds adjacent to Sudi Stadium, away from the tournament’s natural home at Webuye DEB grounds with the new facility providing an excellent experience for both players and spectators.
