Kenya Legends retained the Legends Cup with a 50-30 aggregate victory after defeating Uganda 24-15 in the final leg at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday.
This marks the second consecutive year that Kenya Legends have claimed the title, following their 69-18 aggregate win over Uganda in 2023. The triumph extends Kenya’s winning streak to four straight victories over Uganda.
Kenya Legends opener
In the first leg, Kenya Legends secured a 26-15 win, giving them an advantageous position heading into the return leg.
Uganda dominated possession in the opening five minutes, but their efforts were unrewarded as Chris Lubanga’s penalty attempt went wide. Kenya gradually grew into the game, although mistakes marred the early exchanges.
The match opened up in the 15th minute when Peter Tyrrell set up George Asin for the first try of the game after a strong carry by Eddie Omondi. Darwin Mukidza, starting for the first time for the legends, successfully converted the try, giving Kenya a 7-0 lead.
Uganda responded with a penalty in front of the posts, which Lubanga slotted to make it 7-3.
Kenya extended their lead when Mukidza outran his markers and side-stepped his way over the line for a try, bringing the score to 12-3.
Uganda soon capitalized on a Kenyan mistake, intercepting a pass from Mukidza to score a try, narrowing the gap to 12-8 heading to the break.

In the second half, Humphrey Kayange and Collins Injera combined to send Kevin Gachoka through for Kenya’s third try, which Mukidza converted, extending the lead to 19-8.
Kenya’s fourth try came from an offload by Mukidza, setting up Steve Odhiambo for a corner try, making it 24-8.
Uganda pulled one back in the 72nd minute with a converted try, having missed two earlier penalties, but Kenya held on to secure a 24-15 win in the final leg.
The victory saw Kenya Legends retain the Cup, continuing their dominance over Uganda.
