Kampala Giants managed a 100% win record in the Futures Cup matches played at Kakamega Showground on Sunday.
The Kampala-based team made a triumphant return to Kenya after their 2023 final loss to Rift Valley Lakers, where they were defeated 10-5 in the inaugural Futures Cup held at St Christopher International School.
Futures Cup opener
In the opener of the tournament organized by DBA Africa, the Giants staged an impressive comeback to defeat Western Wanderers 10-5.
The Wanderers initially took the lead with a try, but the Ugandans responded with a drop goal.
They then added a converted try to secure a 10-5 advantage by halftime. The second half saw no further changes to the scoreline.
In their second match, the Giants showcased fine form, beating Nyanza Hurricanes 21-0.
The Ugandans scored two converted tries in the first half and added another converted try in the second half to seal the victory.

The final match of the day featured a Western Derby between Western Wanderers and Nyanza Hurricanes. The Wanderers emerged victorious with an 8-5 win.
The match was decided in the first half, with the Wanderers scoring a try and a drop goal, while the Hurricanes managed an unconverted try.
On Monday, the Giants played a friendly match against Kabras Rugby Age Grade squad, where they faced a 29-19 defeat at the showground.
